Keith, I am so impressed with your photo's. That mesquite is one of my favorite woods with rich color and nice contrast. You have reached near perfection with this one on the curves of a NE, the only improvement I could see would be to make the walls a little thinner, what do you think?

Glenn, thanks for your comments. The photos are just shear luck, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I agree with you on the wall thickness. Now you force me to tell a story. My intent was to go to about 3/16" or so but as I was approaching the thickness it is, half the bark came flying off. I stopped the lathe, said a few words and turned around to see if I could find any bark. To my surprise, they it was, still in one piece. I was able to superglue it back, perfect fit. At that point I was scared to go any further so just a little more finishing cuts and it was done.

Keith, I certainly know that feeling. Someone asked me why the bottom of one of my bowls was so think. I gave them some dumb sounding reply. The real reason was that the last bowl I had turned I had gone through the bottom and ruined it. Down here in South Georgia, we call that getting gun shy.
