Since it is bigger and nicer than any bowl I have turned before, I will have to say that it is most EXCELLENT! The signature on the bottom is a nice touch also. Who are you learning all this from? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

For a rookie I would say that you have the process down pretty well.;) A good looking bowl.

Joseph - I have to tell ya - that is one nice looking bowl!!! Beautiful wood grain, classic form and a great finish! I've been at this for a couple of years now and would be proud as heck if I had made this bowl! Nice work - can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Looks great, Joseph!

I just want to know what kind of pecan that is--is it PEE-can or p'CAHN? :D

Across the river in Tennessee, and out here in New Mexico, it's p'CAHN.

Yep, p'CAHN for us Texans, too. A PEE-CAN is something you find under the bed.

Way to go, Joseph! Didn't your Dad tell you that Pecan (however you pronounce it) is tough stuff to turn. That earns you extra credit. I'm impressed!!

Wow! What a beautiful bowl! That wood is gorgeous and the finish is awesome! You did a fine job, Joseph... I sure didn't display that kind of talent with my first bowls! Your gonna be the next Richard Raffan!

Way to go Joseph! Very fine job. I see too that you let Dad borrow your lathe recently. That was nice of you--gotta humor the ol' fella now and then.:p

OK Joe, everybody was being so formal here I wanted to make sure it was acceptable to call you by the more familiar nickname. Especially since we are kind of family here. And you can leave out the "Mr." for me, Don will do fine.

Take care,

Joe,

Absolutely wonderful bow. I think you have forced a lot of us adults to spend more time in front of the lathe to hone our skills so you don't catch up too quickly. But with you have as a mentor, I don't think it will take very long at all anyway.

Keep up the good work.

Tony

Joe,
When I started turning I was the only woodturner I knew. I can tell you have met a few other turners in the past because your first post you show a picture of the bottom of the bowl. Nobody is going to call you out for unprofessional finish on the bottom.

Good job and keep at it. I'm teaching my Dad to turn. Its a cool experience to share stuff like this with your parents more matter how old you are.
