I won a 40 1/2 on the bay but there was no blade or levercap. I plan on going the hock route for the blade but the levercap seems quite elusive.
TIA
Brian :)

I have seen them in part "lots" on ebay, but never by themselves. Where did yours break - front corner?

No, the plane i bought on ebay didn't have one. I was aware of it at the time and figured sooner or later i'd find one.
Thanks!

Just read this on an antique site:
"Often missing lever cap or cutter. Those parts are worth more than the plane body or the wood." I guess that's the bad news:( . Oh well, good luck finding one! My guess is the flea market/garage sale might be the best way.

Brian,
St James Bay Tool Co. has reproduction lever caps for 40 bucks...not cheap, but it will complete your plane.

I would sell the parts to the plane you bought off of ebay back on ebay. You will probably get enough out of the parts to buy a complete plane. A lever cap by itself will cost around $40 on ebay.
