The wildfires continue to burn in Southeast GA. The first started on April 16th with projected containment on May 15th. One fire has a projected containment date of June 1. None of the fires will be controlled without significant rainfall, which doesn't look to be in the forecast. Local resources were quickly exhausted by the number of personnel brought in to fight these fires. If you are interested in helping out you can find information at the two websites listed below. There are lists of items needed by the firefighting personnel, as well as a list of items needed by those who lost their homes to the fires. Monetary donations are also needed to cover the expense of fuel to take water, etc., from the staging areas to the fireline.

Shipping address for donations if you wish to ship directly to the staging area. This can be verified at www.brighterdayministries.net (http://www.brighterdayministries.net)

We have new fires today, one a peat fire with peat to a depth of 20 feet. Fires have burned over 100,000 acres to date. The bog fire is especially dangerous now that the burn has gone below the level of tree roots. Gusting winds are now bringing down trees. This poses a new threat to the guys on the line. The area will have 20 mph winds today.

To you Texans, many thanks! Management command of the largest fire will transition today to a Lone Star State Incident Management Team.
