Hello all!

I am still working on the ice storm clean up and my pile of wood is really building up. I found a box elder in the mess that didn't have much color in it but decided to make some bowl blanks anyway. I turned one the other day and decided to try some wood bleach on it. I bought wood bleach from woodcraft and put on several coats letting each coat dry a while. But the wood still doesn't seem to be turning white. How long does this bleaching process take? And is there a better bleach out there?

Thanks
Gary

I asked the same question on another forum. This is what I got in reply.

Kleen-Strip 2 part wood bleach, mix it up, put a few coats on, lightly sand. Use a lacquer finish only, anything else will darken it. to add, just mix a small amount.

I have not tried this as I have the box elder drying right now.

Kleanstrip makes a number of products. I bought one thinking it was a wood bleach only to find they make a product called "Wood Bleach." May seem like an obvious observation but once in a box store you may get confused.

Most likely, the help are not.
