I'm looking for some insight about stanley planes. I have found a 605 on e-bay but it does not follow the discription from Blood and Gore. The body has the rounded sides like a regular bailey, not the flatened sides like I see on all the bedrock planes. It has 605 enbossed the toe but the rounded sides do not seem right. Does anyone know if any bedrock planes where made with the bailey style body?

The early Bedrocks were made with the rounded cheeks (Types 1-4). Also, the frog was adjusted in the normal Stanley fashion because they did not have the pins and set screws that secured the frog to the casting.

Fred is correct type 1-4 bedrock have round sides like the regular bailey line. Here is a good refrence page for Bedrock type studies http://www.antique-used-tools.com/brtypes.htm

Fred, Clint, thanks for your response. The info is very useful. I have not been collecting, or falling down the slope, for very long and have lots to learn. Pat.
