Try finding a place that sells hardwood plywood. They might be able to get it for you.

I remember as a kid we built one, and Dad found a sheet of 3/4" plywood that was 5X9 feet...perfect for the table. We kept it in one piece and hung it on the wall. Played on 3 saw horses. Never warped. Hmmm. What does that tell you about today's plywood. (That was probably 38 to 40 years ago) It's out there, specialty lumber yards cohould be able to get it. We lived in a town of about 16 thousand people. Jim.

A friend of mine just bought a really nice, first rate ping pong table top at a large sporting goods store for around $120. It's designed to go over a pool table, so it has no undercarriage. It's just the top. I think it even came with the net.

Seems to me that by the time you would buy the sheetgoods, paint, etc. to make your own, you would be out almost as much money and still have to make it yourself. This is one of those instances where you might be better off just buying one.

You can get larger sized at cabinet supply dealers. Generally look under laminate suppliers in phone book. Most will stock 3/4" in 5 X 10 and 5 X 12.
