what is the best angle for the skew from long tip to short tip, I know the bevel should be one and half times the thickness.

Thanks

According to Lacer, it should be 70 degrees.

I do mine at 90 degrees. If you bevel both sides, it's called a beading tool; one, a chisel. I find a chisel more useful than a skew at beading and planing. Of course with only one side beveled, as in days of yore, you can make a thin 2:1 edge that pares and planes to a fare-thee-well.

Some people make flat "gouges" out of them by relieving either end to make a curve.
