My DeWalt cordless just started to give off a burnt odor. I don't know what this means. Is this the result of worn brushes? Should I replace them? I was going to replace the chuck (it wobbles) but decided against that and would just use it for rough work and keep my other cordless drills for my more prcise woodworking only. This way they would not get damaged. Any advice? Is it the brushes?

The burnt oder is most likely the armature. It will cost in the area of $75.00 to have it repaired. Then by time you add anther chuck.....Nope. Go buy another one with the same voltage and you will have lots of batteries for it.

with Dave. I think that for the most part, cordless drills are pretty much throw-aways. Heck in some cases, replacing the batteries isn't a good idea. Their cost can be as much a new drill. Throw in a bent chuck and out the window it goes. Good luck.
