Try here:

You can also use rope lighting available at home centers.

I've been looking online, around town, etc. because my wife does sand blasted glass.
I have had no luck finding edge-lighting at a good price without having to purchase a crate from china. (the crate fits on the back of a semi, not a case). My brother-in-law has made us wooden bases, lined in foil and drilled from the back for a night-light bulb to fit in but the light doesnot defuse as well as i would like.

So GREAT LUCK in your search and please share any source you may find.

Please PM me with any sources you find.
Ray

Sorry Ray, I had to remove your link.

Pat,

Lowes sells an LED light bar made by Portfolio that is sold in 12" lengths and longer. The 12" model sells for $15.86 in my neck of the woods. The LED's are good for 80,000 hours and produce no heat, great for lighting acrylic and being in an enclosed base.

Pat,

I've bought led strips from www.acolyteled.com (http://www.acolyteled.com) (they're in NY). They have 16'' and 31'' led strips called Striplytes. They have an AC version that can plug directly into a wall outlet. They are on eBay also.

Also, try www.ledz.com (http://www.ledz.com). Go in the "products of led" section. They have 12" strips for around 10$. Minimal purchase is 100$, but shipping from China is surprisingly fast and cheap.

Good luck!

Sunil, do you have any photographs of what you have done? Are you manufacturing them or offering to show us how you did it?

Sunil, I hope you placed resistors in series with the LEDs. An LED is driven by current rather than a specific voltage. If you drive them without a series resistor to act as a current limiter then a small fluctuation in voltage could kill the LEDs.

Sunil,
I would recommend connecting the LED's in series and driving it with a current source or just a adapter with a series resistor. Having them in parallel may not work if some LED's have a slight different Vf. voltage. In many cases only the one with the lowest Vf will turn ON.

I had the same problem finding ready made edge lit assemblies for my CNC acrylic signs. I finally made my own with help of this site, http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz
