Hi all,

Here's a segmented vase, about 11 1/2" tall. Mahogany, walnut, ebony, bloodwood, and yellowheart. 3rd generation lamination for the main feature ring.

Impressive work Randy! Beautiful patterns, great joinery, and what looks like a flawless finish! Very nice work!

Very impressive work....but I just don't think I'd have the patience for something like that. I'd be too afraid to turn it once I had it all glued up.

That sort of thing always makes me slide my chair back. Very impressive! Dennis, I'm in your camp.

Wow... that is another awesome segmented piece! Your demo last month made me really want to try one of those, but I don't know that I would have the patience. That would be really scary to turn after all the work on the rings! Are you bringing this one to next meeting? Oh, and what finish did you use on this one?

Randy that's absolutely gorgeous! Great design, shape, finish and choice of woods. Congradulations. Have you done any other segmented pieces? If so, please post pics.:)

I don't see how you could have done it any better. It is stunning.

That looks wonderful Randy, Like the others have said it's a craft of patience...I'd probably loose a piece some where and have a gap if I tried one...

Randy, I now how difficult it is to maintain alignment accuracy in this sort of design - great job!

Thanks for the comments. to answer Jonathan's question...I used Varathane Diamond water-based finish. To answer Bill's question...yup...I've done other segmented work...some of which has been posted here on SMC.

Randy, I went into the archives and looked at some of your other work. You do some fantastic work. I just bought a book on the turnings that are one inside another and yours looks very similar to the pieces in the book. You are very creative and diversified. It's a real pleasure to look at your pieces.
