Am I ... human? Just kidding.

The neighbors took down a tree today:D, but I have no idea what it is. Anyhow, I took three big logs and two small logs. Can you help me identify it?

Thanks!

I thought of box elder when I saw the red, but was sure I couldn't be so lucky!

Anyone else agree or disagree?

Looks like it to me. Does it smell like ladybug guts?

We are beset every fall by a variety of ladybug which swarms in immense numbers and infiltrates everywhere it's warm. When you squash 'em, they smell just like boxelder. http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef105.asp Harmonia axyridis

I use a face shield on my bike. Even that's no guarantee, however. Friend of mine down in UPT took an Oklahoma grasshopper between the legs doing a bit over fifty. They really grow big ones down there!

I don't know about lady bug guts but Box elder smells like wet dirty gym socks to me. Turns great though.
