Any of you guys built a chainsaw stand, one that can be taken to the woods and will hold the wood off the ground and make it easier to cut the logs for turning.
I would like to do all and just take the blanks back home, ready to mout on the lathe.
I think I saw one someplace but can't remember where. Thanks

Here's the one I've been meaning to build, but haven't yet.

Two logs staked side by side will do for the woods. Snake the third up in the V for clean cuts. Mostly I just buck for length out there, preferring to make my slab cuts at home. If you can roll or lift it, take it home in the large, trimming the ends when the time comes to rough.

those look great but a little on the bulky side. try this one: http://www.laymar-crafts.co.uk/tip33.htm
I have one like it and it works well. it's also small enough to carry easily.
