I woke up (a little hung over) this morning and cooked my rear posts. I am following Drew Langser's book but making the chairs a little bigger and I used the lathe rather than hand shaping the parts.

The posts were turned green from a tree that fell a couple of weeks ago. The pieces were split, chucked and turned to cylinder using the copy feature on my lathe. Then I hand turned the top and bottom tapers and cut the tops of the posts lengthwise on the bandsaw. Final shaping of the post was done with a spokeshave.

Now I have to wait for the posts to dry.....

Way to go Paul! How many are you making? I need 8 chairs for my new trestle table. I want to make them & the Mrs. wants to buy them... (she doesn't want to wait - go figure!)

I am going to make two chairs. My plan is to make 4 pairs of different style chairs. The first pair where Shaker style.
