Good day

I have some small screw clamps that are very useful here and there but, I had in mind, already long time, to make one with long jaws.

So, in between the "gardening missions" of my wife (planters etc.) I fond some free time to make one and I would like to share it with you.

I used 3/8" threaded rod cut to 12" pieces

Sorry for the so unprofessional work but it's a prototype (excuses, excuses, all my jigs and fixers looks like a prototype).

Regards
niki

Great idea and excellent description of the important details. I also notice the added use of sandpaper on the knobs for better grip.

Great work and thanks for posting the details! I was just wondering, does the clamping pressure go all the way out the to end? I know there would be more pressure right at the rod, but is the pressure enough at the ends for glue ups and the like? I guess another bar clamp at the other end could easily be added if needed though. I'm going to make one of these in the near future I believe. :)

Thank you so much

Don
As you know, sanding paper is my "Trade mark"...:)

You "entered" into my mind.
I did not want to mention it but, I gave a clue in the pictures with the 3 boards clamped.

As I wrote, "leave some gap near the rod, tightening the knob will close the gap".
I cannot tell you how much pressure there is at the end of the clamp but I could not move the boards at the far side.

I think that if you make two of those clamps (I did not yet), you can clamp the "panel" from each side and than add a few clamps in the center.

I still have to try this method of panel glue-up so I did not want to mention it.
