Another Cocobola HF. Can't get enough of these little guys.

As usual with these things it was a pain to photograph.

This one's 2-3/4"H x 3-1/2"W. The rim is 1-3/16". Finished with Seal-A-Cell and buffed with Tripoli and wax.

Comments/critiques welcome as always.

Neal,

Beautiful HF! The form and finish are all "just right.":)

I can see what you mean about it being difficult to photograph, with the tent's edges reflecting off the mirror-like finish. Still, the photo is nice. It picks up the details and shows the piece nicely. Given my recent battles with photography, I would be interested in knowing what you use for lighting. My pics always turn out too dark.

That finish looks stunningly deep. The form looks great too.

Beautiful piece Neal, love the form. I see ya turned it without a lip, are ya planning on adding one of your great finials?

The word that springs to mind is cute! Very well executed, Neal - despite my horrible description.

That's really sweet, Neal. Cocobolo really polishes up, too!

Beautiful piece of work Neal! You probably already know more than I do about photography, but I'll ask anyway...are you diffusing your light source?

Thanks for the kind words, folks!

Mark, I'm just using 18-watt compact fluorescent (full spectrum 5100K) bulbs in aluminum reflectors. I tried playing around with several lighting positions and finally decided on a single source diffused through the top left corner of the tent. Still couldn't avoid the 'alien eye' effect of the tent walls. I probably took 50 pictures to get this one. Thank goodness for digital!

I guess pieces like this are best photographed outside a tent using just a screen setup (but I'm too lazy to set one up). I'd be interested in thoughts from you photography gurus.

Great looking little hollow form Neal! The form is 'right-on' but your finish is amazing! The reflections tell me all I need to know - absolutely breathtaking! As usual - Great Work!!

The form is such that you have no concept of the size except for your description -- and that's the way it should be. Excellent work!
