I have just finished this for my daughter Lizzie. This project presented me with several challenges, accurate mitre cutting and keyed meters were just one apart from using me 12" table saw to cut the mitres and the router table to cut all key ways I used hand tools for the rest.
The wood used is Myrtle for the body with the lid insert Walnut and the beading on the lid Australian Red Ceder.
The finish is French Polish
I hope that you like my efforts.

G'day Sascha

Thanks, the inspiration came from issue 45 of the Australian Woodsmith magazine, I think that they use articles from the American version. You might be able to find an issue with this article in it.

This is definately a post that I won't share with my wife. She'd want one and then she'd have to fill it up.

Beautiful work Phil. I'm sure your daughter will use it with pride.

Like indeed!
That’s a beautiful jewelry box. I love the way the drawer ends wrap around.

Very attractive and impressive woodworking. I really like the looks of it and the apparent skill that went into it. Your daughter will cherish it, with good reason.

I might give it a shot if I can find the plans.
