Here's my lastest project. The figured teak top is a very unique piece of wood. Next time I'll go with maple instead of alder. The alder is a little soft, dents easily, but the color really compliments the teak.

That's a beautiful table John! What was your finishing technique?

Hi Ken,

I started with dewaxed shellac, then Daly's acrylic polyurethane. Sanded to 600, then buffed with #0000 steel wool.

That is a really nice table. I saw a similar piece of teak at Rockler the other day, but it was already planed to 1/2" thick and at $27/bf, I passed on it.

Nice work - the figured teak definately catches the eye.

That's a beautiful table. You came up with a great way to show off that special plank of teak. The colors of the wood do go well together. I was wondering if you considered creating a contrast by substituting walnut with the alder.

My last table was lacewood and walnut, so I thought I'd try something different this time. Walnut would have been a good choice to go with the teak though.

Terrific job. Love that piece of teak and the alder really looks good with it. Nice design too.
