I would like to build a workbench and make one end a router table, so I can free up some space in my shop. Does anyone know of any plans or have suggestions on how to proceed and what equipment to use?

That's an interesting idea. I built my RT as an extension to my tablesaw as many others have here. I don't see why you couldn't do the same on a free standing workbench.

I would do am SMC Google search (under the forum's Search pulldown at the top of the page) on "router table" or "RT" or "router cabinet". Ignore the cabinet and focus on how the table is mounted to the frame.

Here's some I found using that search:

I built Norm Abram's New Yankee Workshop router table, but with a much larger top. It is pretty much used as my primary work surface and also is used as the outfeed table for the tablesaw.

Thanks for your input and information. It gave me some places to start.

I've thought about doing this as well. One headache that I try to wrap my brain around from time to time is using the tilt table method of accessing the router (a la Bill Hylton) instead of the router plate method.

Soon as I find a 'round-to-it...
