Been reading for quite some time, finally decided to post. I'm going through a humidor phase right now, also dabbling in marquetry, so here are a few.

Jay, welcome to the Creek!

I love the penguin! Can we see the inside of one of those humidors?

If that is "dabbling", I can't imagine what you'd knock out if you got serious. Stunning job.

Beautiful work. I agree with Dan on your "dabbling." Your marquetry work is beautiful. The sides of your humidors really frame the art work on top nicely.

I know a few Pittsburgh guys that would love that Penguin box including my wife. That is some nice work.

I really am new to the marquetry side of things, only been doing it for a couple of months, so just know that I wasn't "fishing" for compliments. The eagles one was for a friend, I am a Steelers and Penguins fan. Here is a pic of the inside of one, which is how the first three were done. Changed the inside of the last one I did, but didn't take a pic and it's now gone.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. The humidor I'm working on now is the most challenging so far, the top will have the USMC logo with over 200 pieces. I'll be sure to post pics when it's done.

Jay,
Nice work. A question how have you been doing your surface cutouts for the inlay? Hand? Router? Both? Once again very nice.

Since I've been working with veneers on the tops, the inlays are just cut into the top with a craft knife before gluing it down to the substrate.

They hold about 40 - 50 cigars.
