I am spraying water based lacquer and i don't have a booth. Is there some type of "booth" that i could set up and take down when i'm not using it. Also i dont want to spend a lot of money on this. The main reason i would like something like this is just so that i don't get finish all over my other stuff in the garage. Any Ideas?

Just make some folding screens or hang some canvas drop cloths. With water borne you don't have the environmental issue and any over spray will largely be dry before it hits the floor or temp walls. (I do run my air cleaner when I spray...about the only time I use it...and that's just to clear "the haze" faster)

I saw a thread once where the author had made the booth using insulation board they put on the walls of new construction. Typically about an 1/8" thick and is either white or silver. It was assembled using velcro at the joints and then was able to take it apart and stow it away easily.

I am pretty sure that was in this forum. A search might turn it up again.

Here you go. The truly poor man's finishing room.

This is what I came up with. I use only waterborne coatings in this dedicated finishing room. You can read all the details in an earlier post (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=40466&highlight=spray+velcro).

The spray booth looks like this:

Thats the one. Thanks Al. I think that is one of the coolest portable booths. I will be borrowing from your design in the next few months. I may try that thinner insulation board to see if it will stand up well enough. Although when I get to the box store I will go with the lowest and best option.

Thanks again.
