Years ago, I saw mention of one of these in a Krenov book, but never found a source, nor have I ever seen anyone else mention one until I saw Rob Millard's recent post in the scrub plane thread.

Anyone know of a source for these? Rob, where did you find yours, and are you happy with it?

Ebay usually has a few of them listed. I don't know of anyone making new ones.

I just recieved one yesterday that I bought off e-bay. It is from the Prairie tool company. It was in good condition and could take up to a 7 inch wheel. The woman who sold it to me has many more--send send me a note and I'll give you her number. This particular version is fairly large and robust (probably wieghs 8 pounds)--I am not sure if, as I become more familiar w/it, if I would want a smaller version.

Nothing like bringing up a 4 year old post.

But anyway......... Found this link for a manufacture in India that makes a hand crank grinder. Anyone know if it is available in the USA? http://handtools.tradeindia.com/Exporters_Suppliers/Exporter20162.338847/Hand-Grinder.html
