I saw an interesting video on some decorative techniques using wax and artists oils.

In the article the author talks of using shellac over the wax for a higher sheen. I've had others state that there should be nothing over a wax finish except more wax. What are your feelings / experiences?

That's a pretty specialized case he is talking about, where the liming wax is mostly down in the oak pores. But remember, shellac contains wax naturally so I suppose it may work OK over wax, at least over very thin wax. For sure, you don't want to use any other finish except shellac.
