OK...I can't swing a Jessem Router Lift Pro AND the cotton-pickin' PC7518 that has to go in it......so my next choice is to see if the "Raizer" is worth it for my DW625. Any experiences with the Router Raizer out there?

Dennis,

I installed a Router Raizer in my table about a year ago and have been very pleased with it. It took about 30 min. to install in my PC-7529 2hp. For my money it does the same thing as the high dollar “lifts” at a fourth of the price. Also, and just as important, you don’t have an extra 20+ lbs. hanging under your table.

I've had one on my Hitachi M12V for about a year now, and like it a lot.

Easy installation, and no operational problems. Works as advertised...

Woodpeckers has a Refurb PlungLift for the DW625 (http://www.woodpeck.com/refurb.html) available for $129...considering it includes the nice aluminum plate and inserts, that might be a better buy than just the RouterRaizer.

Dennis, Jim may have a "better idea", but I do have the Router Raizer installed on a 625 DW. If you miss the one Jim mentioned or for some other reason don't want it, the Router Raizer is great as is the company's service. I was told that the crank would clear my tall fence before purchase. The crank that came with the raiser did not. I got one that did in 2 days at their expense. I vacuumed up the little disk that keeps the dust out of the wrench hole. After much magnetic searching through a full bag of dust, I ordered a half dozen. They came again at no charge!

You know my "level of precision". I grab the calipers for anything under 6 to 12" depending on which caliper I am close to. The Router Raizer does it.

Again, if you don't buy before you come up, come and check it out first hand.

David

May I offer another alternative for your consideration?

For less than $10 I made my own lifter for my DW621. I've got a 625 as well and I know it would work there as well. It's a fairly simple thing that stays on the router all the time. I even find it handy when using the router handheld.

It consists of a couple of short lengths of M6 all-thread screwed into threaded bosses on the base diagonally across the base from each other. These pieces of rod are locked into the base with a split washer and hex nut.

These rods extend a couple of inches above the top of the router. A cross bar of hardwood is attached to the top end of them. In the center of the crossbar there's a hole drilled for a 3/6-16 teenut. The teenut is installed on the underside of the crossbar.

Into the teenut I inserted a short piece of all-thread. On the end that bears on the top of the router I screwed on a brass acorn or cap nut. The other end gets a knob.

It probably took me as long to write that as to make one. I made mine mostly from stuff I had laying around (except the M6 rod). No specific dimensions--I just eyeballed it all and installed it as I made it.

A couple of pictures would show you much better than I can describe it and I'd post some pictures if you're interested. I can get at them during the day on Wednesday.

Ah, yes, one more thing. You do have to reach under the table to operate the my lifter but I find I end up squatting in front of my router table anyway so I can gauge the cutter height properly anyway.

Dave, I would be interested in seeing a couple pictures of your lift.

Jim,

Thanks for the tip to Woodpecker. I need to check their site a little more often. I wouldn't mind getting that setup but I really need to buy a scroll saw pretty soon for inlay work and pattern making. Cutting it all by hand takes WAY too much time. ;)

Dave....let me see a couple of pics of your setup. I don't mind making something work for little to no money.....that's something I can afford.

Thanks to all you others....I nothing else works out....I will get the Router Raizer....but maybe after the NEXT project.

Hope the pictures make sense.

When I made this, I needed the lifter and didn't have a lot of time to spend on it. Since the pictures were taken, I shortened the center rod so there's not much more than what's needed to do the job.
