Does anyone out there know what the angle is behind the crown? I want to make support support blocks that attach to top of the cabinet and the back of the applied crown. I just can't seem to get it right. thanks.

Byron, When I Make Crown Moulding, I Cut The Back Sides 38 Degrees Top & 52 Degrees At Bottom For Better Width On The Wall Or Both On A 45 Degree Angle. Hope This Helps.

Randy, not exactly. If you are looking at the side of a cabinet and the crown was nailed to the top what is the angle created byt the back of the drown and the top of the cabinet? I hope THAT is more clear. Thanks.

Byron, It Is Probably 45 Or 52 Degrees Depending On The Back Cut Of The Moulding. I Usually Cut 52 Degee Blocks When Installing Wide Crown To Keep It Aligned With The Wall Correctly. Been Awhile Since I Installed Any On A Cabinet And I Don't Remember The Exact Angle. I Usually Attach It To The Cabinet And Then Scribe And Rip A Filler.

Ok,

It is called the spring angle.

most common are 38, 45, and 52.

To find yours, take a piece of paper, draw a right angle on it.

Place a small cut off of crown in the right angle as it would sit

on the wall. Pencil in the back. (hypotenuse)

The spring angle is the one from the plumb line to the hypotenuse.

Measure this one.

Cut you blocks accordingly.

Almost easy a pi.
