I've spent the last couple weeks coming to terms with the techniqes used to make these boxes. They're really challenging, but not so bad once you get the hang of it. Have to really get the fit just right.

Each of these are about 2.75" x 4" high.
Canarywood, Mahogany, Walnut, and Bubinga.

Nice boxes Adam. I've turned a few myself (without the nice form that you've done...). They are fun and not too hard once you get the hang of how to make the top fit.

Your Mahogany one is my favorite.

Very nice Adam. I like them all but the 3rd, with the round top, is my favorite. I haven't tried a box yet but after seeing these I gotta give it a try.

Very nice work Adam! Have to agree with Shane in that they are all nice boxes but really like the 3rd one because of the rounded top. Different with a nice clean line!

VERY VERY VERY Nice! Nice forms, nice finish, just plain nice. I would like to see a picture of the bottom and the insides (just being picky I guess).
Also, watch that business of posting "topless" pictures, if my wifes hears about that...........

Top job Adam.
Does the inside wall follow the outside form or are they just straight walled inside?

Great boxes, Adam!

Thanks, these were lots of fun. Learned some new skills.

The inside follows the outside, of course.

I did cheat a little. Used a Forstner bit to drill out some of the inside, and to set the depth. Cleaned up the profile with a Hunter Hollowing tool. Set the depth so that after cleaning up the forstner dimple, the botttom thickness was right.

I jam chucked to reverse and do the bottom.

Thanks!

Good on you.
I cheat a lot. :D
I use a big Forstner bit & just clean it up square across the bottom & up the sides.

Those are pretty! The one with the dome-shaped top is my favorite.

I've never turned a traditional box but these may motivate me to try it. These are absolutely incredible!

Outstanding work! I especially like the 3rd one with the round top. That is so unique!

Keep these coming. I look forward to seeing more!

I've been turning some boxes and I have to say that I hope to be able to turn some as nice as yours in the near future. I especially like the bead detail where the top and bottom meet.

Those look like they might have been influenced a bit by Raffan, eh?? Beautiful boxes... that is really outstanding work! I think I would have to concur with everyone else that the dome shaped one is the coolest! Very nice effect! What finish did you use one these???
