Here is a Walnut Lidded box that I also made this weekend on the new lathe. It is 3" high and 2 1/4" across it is finished with lacquer. Not much but was fun turning. The lathe is a dream to use.

Nice box Bernie, I like the finishand bottom treatment (areas I need to work on). Glad to see you are giving the Nova a workout. I got my 1624 last weekend and still only have done pens on it. Could've used the mini for that...

Thanks everyone. I really like doing these boxes. I am hoping to start doing more complex type boxes that I have seen.

Nice. How long before the boxes get deeper and the handle becomes an add-on? Lots of people talk about "pop" fits, but they sort of give me fits, because I have to push twice to burp the air out of the thing before the top will mate properly with the bottom. Sneak a tiny notch or two under the rim to allow the air to escape if you play the pop game.

What color stain did you put on that walnut? :D

That is a nice box, Bernie. The color has a purple tint to it on my screen. Is that just my computer, or is it really that way? Looks great either way!
