Turned this HF this morning. Its from the same piece of wood as the bowl I did yesterday.

Walnut ... 5 inches tall and 1/8" thick throughout. Opening is kinda big but I can live with it ;) Sanded to 1200 and finished with carnauba wax.

Comment/Critiques always welcome,
Shane

Shane you did a wonderful job. This shape looks perfect to me, the wood you chose is beautiful, and the finish is like glass.

That's a sweet piece. I do agree with you that a smaller entry would have enhanced this proportionally, but otherwise, it's very pleasant. Keep this form on your "list"!

Man that's nice Shane! You've got to be the most naturally gifted woodturner I've ever seen. For those of you that don't know, Shane jumped into this woodturning thing only about 2 months ago. I know at 2 months I was still trying to make something the cat wood eat out of without turning up his nose. You're really doing some nice work.

Thanks for all the great comments everyone, I appreciate them :D

Thanks Curt ... Been just over 4 months now ... getting better every day. ;)
I should mention that I have been working with wood most of my life, as a serious hobbiest and a short time for a living, just never on the lathe. So playing with wood is nothing new to me. I also think years of studying photography and learning what is pleasing to the eye has helped me with my forms.

Thanks again,
Shane

Shane, Shane, Shane. You really need to work on your forms. At 4 months you aren't supposed to be able to do something like this.

Come on, man! Buck up! Turn something crappy for once, will ya? :D

Let's see... what was I doing at 4 months? I know that hollow forms were still a dream at that point.
