My wife finally picked out a fabric and I put it on. I'm not an experienced upholsterer so this was a challenge for me - gimp (the edge trim) hides a lot of sins, however.

Now I just have to do the other chair.

Well done Mike. Personally, upholstery is a challenge that I'd do almost anything to avoid. You're a lot braver than I am. The color complements the wood.

Beautiful work , Mike. It has a bold "presence" to it. I can see someone leaning back in that one and being very comfortable!!

That is one beautiful chair. I re-upholstered a few chairs a while back and that is one feat I will never do again. I'm very impressed with your work.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. I definitely agree about upholstery - the professionals have nothing to fear from me. It's a real pain and something I really don't enjoy. I'm not looking forward to doing the second chair.

Mike when you submitted pic's of the woodwork on that chair I thought it was great, but your upholstering job really sets it off.
