You must live in a old tool saturated area! I've been wanting one of those 386's. Have you seen what they fetch on the bay?!!

This is the second one I have come across. First one was in VG condition and Ebay proceeds went to my LN warchest.:D This one is missing the knob and the screw that allows adjustment of the fence must have been snapped off because the threads have been drilled out. But it's nothing a short machine screw and wing nut can't fix. I'll have to see if a LN knob from a No. 9 will work on it.

Are the tote and knob on that rosewood or did you just stain the original handles?

Ryan,

The were plain hardwood handles. As far as I know, all the scrub planes came with hardwood vice rosewood. The handles had the black finish, so I'm thinking it was made just after the war ('46-47'). I used appliance epoxy paint out of a rattle can to refinish them.

I wasn't sure because I remember reading somewhere that they made them with rosewood for a short time. It was either early production or late production but they are more desireable. None-the-less nice score.
