Despite a mountain of trials and tribulations, this custom designed, hand crafted chest of drawers was delivered to the benefit of my biggest fan for use as linen and flatware storage in my Mom's dining room.

The pictures leave a lot to be desired. I am still working on learning about the new digital camera and photography in general!!

Safe, Healthy, and Happy New Year's,

The trials and tribulations are obviously hidden somewhere as all I can see is good craftsmanship.
VERY nice job. I need to get on more furniture projects myself. Pictures of such nice pieces like yours are inspiring.
Keep it up!

Your "customer" SHOULD be happy...that's a mighty fine piece of custom furniture, TJ!! Great job and I really like the "action" in the wood. More!!!

Nice looking project. The custom made stuff is always the best. Making stuff for Mom or a wife is special too.

I wish my shop floor was that clean.

Good job! May it serve its purpose for along time (generations). Could you give us a little more information on its construction, finish, etc? Thanks for posting.

Thanks, everyone, for all your kind words and comments.

The chest is made out of Mahogany, solid and ply. It measures 42 inches wide, 36 inches high, and 18 inches deep. The measurements correspond to a specific space in my Mom's house.

To my eye, the top should overhang more and the bottom drawers are too big in terms of their height. I hope to move on to dovetailed drawers on the next project that needs drawers.

I finished the chest by first applying two coats of Medium Walnut Danish Oil followed by two 'seal' coats of shellac. I sanded back using 220 grit and then added to finishing coats of shellac.

Overall I am satisfied with my progress but I am looking forward to continuing to learn through more projects. I read here and a few other forums daily and I learn alot from you guys.

Many thanks,

TJ
