I'm finishing a backgammon board with General Finishes Gel Topcoat and I'm wondering if I should be sanding at all between coats or after the last coat. The can doesn't mention it. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

I've used the Bartley's and would say that it depends. If you can feel any nibs after a coat, knock them down. If not maybe not. I use a well used piece of 220 to knock down and sand between coats usually, and go over everything lightly.

(Read the can and stay in line with their recoating times.)

Start with what the label instructions say. In general, you sand after the first coat using 320 paper to smooth and flatten. If you recoat within less than 10-12 hours, you can generally get by without sanding for adhesion between coats. More than 12 hours, let it dry 24 hours, sand and recoat.
