been very busy building for my family room.
copied the design from BDI audio. I kept the size very close to the original.
solid mahogany, the case is stained with general finishes dark mahogany. the front is one slab of wood, resawn, bookmatched and kept in sequence. I just could get myself to stain it.
the feet are MDF and plywood cubes veneered with mahogany and aluminum angle in the corners.
finish is laquer.

finally all my cables are organized and nothing is laying around on the floor. it is also closed in the back with sliding doors made from hardboard. there are plenty of slots for air in the bottom of the cabinet, the shelves and the sliding doors.
the center channel speaker is in the top drawer covered with fabric.

so here is the final result

Oh yes! That is slick!

I never use exclamation points either.

Matter of fact, it is so nice... well I am gonna copy it.

Ok?

Beautiful work. Your design is so sleek and clean, and the use of the metal elements works perfectly. Well done, sascha.

Great design and execution!

One small suggestion: I was thinking that if you could find some sort of aluminum channel to cover the wires between the TV and the cabinet, not only would it hide the wires, but it would give the illusion that they are one unit. Sort of like the TV is being supported by the cabinet on a pole. It might look cool, although it looks pretty darn cool already! :)

thanx guys, was a fun project. the Mahogany was hell to work with, it warped so bad, I had to redo just about every glue up again, but what the hey, I made it through.

I am not sure if I cover the wires with a metal/and-or wood channel or hide it in the wall, we'll see.

thanx for the kind words everybody

Awesome Sascha! Love the style! Can you tell me how you joined the carcasse up? I'm working on a contemporary sideboard right now. I thought about going solid wood but opted for a ply carcasse for stability. I'm in love with Sapele right now so it'll be covered with it all over. I used Dominoes for the joinery. Awesome! It feels solid as a rock and is perfectly square at dry fit. Just wondering if you used the Domi for this project. :)
