Here's some frames I finished recently. A local cabinetmaker/custom furniture shop was selling off some surplus sticks of lumber. I nabbed a couple nice pieces of Curley QS White Oak. One of them was used on these. I used walnut dowels to peg the blind tenons. The finish is Varithane Golden Oak Stain with two coats of Watco Dark Walnut used as a glaze to darken the open pores. A couple coats of shellac after all that dried, then paste wax applied with 0000 steel wool and lots of rubbing with a cotton rag. They turned out pretty nice if I do say so myself. :D

Sorry about the flash reflection.

Nice job, Rob. I think they are elegant and the color is just beautiful.

Very Nice!!! I like the M&T frame rather than mitered corners.

Those are really nice, I appreciate the fact that you kept them simple and let the figure be the interest. Adding profile would have detracted from the wood.

Thanks to all for the kind words. It's nice to start creating again after all those years off. Next up: a Stickley knockoff plant stand and an entry foyer table.
