I have some Sassafras given to me by a co-worker and am planning to turn some in the very near future. It is wet. How much movement can I expect in the drying process? Is Sassafras prone to cracking and splitting? Can I use the shavings or bark to make tea?
Thanks,
Terry

Terry, I found some information on the Net regarding Sassafras. I have not turned any, but I have but a few, and the wood is beautiful. Take a look at this information.........it is not very detailed, but it should lead you in the right direction. I will see if I can find anything else that may help you also. If nothing else, it should smell really nice in the shop while turning Sassafras! ;)
