Don't know where will go in in western PA but there is one on almost every corner in the northern part the state. we buy from about 30 different mills from Warren to Oil City to just north Pittsburg to Williamsport. All sell hardwood. Exotics In Elmira, NY(West Penn) right on border. You can get a listing for all of state and by location from Div of Forestry online.

(Length in inches) times (width in inches {rounded up to closest 1/2"}) times (thickness in inches rounded to the quarter inch) divided by 144. And all of those inches are when rough, not milled.

For example, an 8" wide 4/4 board that is 8' long is 5.33 board feet.

I buy my lumber F4S from Summit Hardwoods (814) 796 2695, 9697 Perry Highway, Waterford, PA, just a hop and a jump south of I-90. They have Oak, Maple, Poplar and others. They sell dimensioned lumber by the lineal foot. Good quality stuff, Kiln dried, knot and defect free. Ask for Tim and tell them I sent you. They'll give you the same price they give everyone else.:D

has anyone ordered from them? They have some (well mostly sold) exotic hardwoods for really big buck.

Jim Becker, did I hear you say something about a big wood party this summer. I don't have any wood to bring, but I can bring Money, beer, pop, and some potato salad. ROTF

Tim, I've seen quite a few positive comments on West Penn over the years.

The only "wood party" I know about is Bill Grumbine's "Five Barns" frolic, scheduled this year 13-14 July. I'm still thinking about the possibility of a mass cherry and eucalyptus (mahogany substitute...ask Per Swenson about it!) buy from Lewis Lumber from Picture Rocks PA, but I have to see how badly our septic updates and addition budget goes.
