Beautiful Gail! I have plans for units similar to these for our fireplace surrounds. What is the finish? Seeing yours here, I can't wait to get started. Love the arches. What wood did you use? Also, is that about 6' on each side of the fireplace? The way you divided the space, really works. Thanks for posting these, really very nice work. Bill

I have about 15 of wall space just begging for some built ins. You have me thinking I need to adjust my plans. Really nice look.

Thanks! Each smaller case is 24" wide, and the larger one 48" wide. All 7 doors are exactly the same width.. Lower portion to 30" inches and 84" overall.
(the arch comes down 8" on each side)

gail, i especially like the arches that you've incorporated into the face frames as well as the inset doors. two questions: how much time did the entire project take and how are you pricing your work and the installation? time and materials? lineal feet?

Gail,

What material did you build them with? I just had some built in my basement project (sadly, I did not build them myself) and was surprised that they were built out of MDF with 5/4 pine shelves rather than poplar and birch ply. I'm curious about what a real pro uses.

Thanks,

Jack

Thanks!

I used birch plywood for the casework and shelves. I used poplar for the face frames and the doors and I used mdf just for the raised panels. - Pocket door hardware was Accuride and inset door hardware was blum.

I price my projects by first estimating materials and then estimating weeks to build and finish, then I bill seperately delivery and installation. 50% deposit required at time of order. Estimate delivery date - always a little longer than actual.

This project took about 100 hours, and delivery and install about 14.

Finish is Ben moore Simply White Semigloss.

Thanks all!

Thanks for your response, gail! I'm considering doing cabinets part-time in the near future and I've heard from many sources that accurate estimating and pricing are sometimes more difficult to perform than the actual project itself. Nice job on scribing the cabinets into place BTW - they look like they grew there!
