Cocobolo goblet 6.75" tall by just under 2" diameter with two interlocked captive rings. The finish is Watco Teak Oil hand buffed.

I realy like the detail in the stem... very nice work. How do you break the ring so as to minimize a saw kerf?

Curt, I've come to expect your goblets to be beautiful works and this one certainly is beautiful. THe cup, the stem, the rings, the height, all of it is just right. Great use of a piece of cocobolo!

PS - I just bought a couple of captive ring tools and I thought they would make it easy--NOT!:p

Thanks everybody.

Robert, the rings are only about 1/8" thick and I break one by hand to interlock them. I don't saw them at all. The trick is not breaking it on both sides when you first break it and when you spread it to interlock them and then getting it aligned when you glue it so it doesn't show where the break was.

OH MAN, WHAT A PUNCH IN THE GUT!!!.:( . Here I was searching, and figgerin', scratchin' my head tryin' to find out how those captive rings were turned interlocking.. Then BAM! I found out you broke one of 'em. What a let down. BUT, It's still a great piece. Wonderful display of the wood, and skill.. I'll get over it I guess.
