Simple Spalted Birch Bowl

Haven’t been able to turn as often as I would like lately but did manage to get this finished today.

Simple birch bowl 6 ¾” x 2 ½” x 3/16”. Finish is two coats of Watco Natural Danish Oil, at least 7 coats of Minwax Wipe-On Gloss Poly and then buffed.

Looks real nice, Steve. Pain to sand without dipping into the soft spots, isn't it? You jamming or jawing to do the bottom that way?

First off, I would like to thank everyone for their kind comments. Amazing how much fun this sport actually is!

George - use the mini-jumbo jaws with my Talon chuck to get to the bottom of the bowl.

Looks like we got hit with the same snow! Lots of fun snowblowing! Have to get over to the folks place this afternoon and start on their drive. Should provide hours of entertainment!

I really like bowls like this...they celebrate the beauty of the wood so well, especially when there is something interesting like spalting involved. Nice!
