Big bowl for sis

My sister requested a big salad bowl. This piece started out weighing in at approx 90 lbs and took 4 hours to rough out. I still need to apply more finish but decided to show it now. The bowl is Ash and 15" diameter and 8" deep. I hope my sis likes salad as much as she says.:D :D :D

That's beautiful work Terry. Nice form, and wood. I cannot imagine anyone not being happy with that bowl! Any idea what the finished bowl weighs? Man oh man, that IS nice stuff! ;)

Looks great to me! You're brave... from what I hear ash can be a pain to work with! Bet your sis will like it... whether or not she really likes the salad! (make sure you really let her know all the pain you went through ;))

Holy Moley, that's some fast-growing wood! What's the annual ring interval, close to a half inch? I like the outside grip help in the ridge. When the piece doesn't lend itself to broad enough to cup, even two hands can slip.

I sent this pic to my sister to let her know I haven't forgotten her. I'm thinking it will hold at least 5 gallons of ice cream and more popcorn than I would care to eat. Thanks you all your comments here and in the other thread.
