Watco Danish Oil and buffed.

Almost got chunked in the fire bin when the tenon came off the first time and the blank attacked me. Lots of tearout, tamed with Miwax wood hardener, some laquer sanding sealer, and sharped tools. Power sanding helped as well. :D

Thanks for looking

Real nice looking HF Bob! Nice flow to your form. Finish looks great! Couldn't see any tearout - really nice work!

Bob,

You did a great job with that spalted maple! I've got a similar blank and you have given me the courage to try something similar (once tax season is over and I've completed all the honey-dos that have been piling up). Thanks for sharing.

Bob, very nice indeed. I think Mike hit it on the head stating it has that Native American look to it.

Great job and the opening is very small, lends to the beauty of the wood nicely. i don't hhing I even own a tool that would fit in the top.

Every time I see a piece done out of spalted wood, I get more and more envious. I love that stuff! This one is another that reminds me of Southwest pottery, and it should get a place of honor in your house. :) I LIKE it!!

Patience always pays off... the result on this one is awesome! The spalting is awesome and the form is wonderful (and unique - haven't seen one quite like it)... it does look like a piece of Indian pottery. The burn mark really adds a visual boundary to the piece - good touch! One fine piece there!
