The height gage that use to set the height of my table saw blade hit the concrete and broke. I would like to get the one that Norm has been using and it made by Angle Wright Tool Co. Can't find it anywhere. I posted a message at NYW but I doubt they will answer. Anyone know where I can find it or a good alternative?

I use gauge blocks, those brass bars used in machine shops. For anything over an inch, I have made my own set of wooden gauge blocks.

I have been sending emails to Anglewright for the past 18 months asking when the height gauge will be available. They always respond but they always tell me in about 3 months. After a 18 months of waiting I got tired and made my own. Made a nice Saturday project.

Byron, I use both the Veritas Tool Setting Guage and Set-up Blocks from Lee Valley. http://www.leevalley.com:80/wood/page.aspx?c=2&cat=1,240&p=41064
They are quick and easy to use.

The following is from the NYW site:

Hi Norm,
Anglewright seems to have disappeared from their web site and Yankee tools. Any help finding the height and angle finder would be most apprreciated. (I misplaced the email address of "John" from the company)

Answer:
Sorry to say we cant get any more of these tools at the moment. If that situation changes, youll once again see them back on our tool list.

Shop Notes had one a couple years back that used the HF plastic digital calipers that are often on sale for $7.99. It is basically an inverted "U". After I made my first, I made a set of jigs to produce the body, includung routing the cavity for caliper. Made several as gifts for friends. Sorry I can't post pictures.

When Norm was selling the height gauge they were $125. Not cheap but just by looking at it on TV I could see it was an item I would like. I should have bought one when I had the chance but I hee-hawed around now it looks like I'll have to wait.

Byron Trantham and the rest of the group that posted on this old thread. Here is what you asked about 8 months ago … they are selling them now. …I just posted a new thread about this under the heading of Angle Wright Height Gauge www.anglewright.com (http://www.anglewright.com/)

( I just found this old post )

You guys ought to look on eBay for machine shop height gauges. Used, they’ll still be more accurate than any made for woodworking. Here’s a nice one with a "buy it now" price of 60 bucks, 280182998303.
Search Height Gage and dozens of them will come up.

I'm happy with this recently purchased Wixey height gauge...

....even though a bit pricey at ~$60.

I really like my limited edition A. Clark height gauge (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=21571&highlight=height+gauge) that I paid $5 for. :D

Unfortunately I'm not sure where you could find another, but you could make one.

Another vote for Wixey, I like the height gage a lot, you can also use it on the router table for height and to set the fence distance.

Okay, I know this post is a couple years old, but I was looking for the AngleWright Height Gage after I saw it on NormsTools.com. I emailed the gentlemen listed on the AW website this morning and this is the response I got:

Hi Brandon,

Thank you for your interest in our AngleWright Height Gauge. It is
available for purchase. It costs $135 plus shipping. You can place your
order via email or by calling 800 448-3680. We accept MasterCard and VISA
for payment.

I think I'll be making my own long before I spend $135 on a height gage. Maybe the Pro's will want to use this, but I think I can get by with homebuilt accuracy.

See post #18 in this thread. It still holds true.
$135 for ~3 1/2" of travel is crazy IMO.

So, yeah, I missed page 2 of the thread at first and reposted info. Oops, my bad! Oh well, I guess no matter how many times you post the price of that angle gauge it still makes me pucker!
