Lathe-less in Houston and another one bites the dust!! Well four things accomplished today:
Sold the 1442VSK and got what I asked.:D He got a bargain but it was worth it because:
We added another soul to the Dark Side:eek:  , His name is Charlie so be looking for him.:D I sent him on his way with some wood and a great lathe.:)
Rusty another new Houston Turner came over and helped my son and Charlie load the lathe. I had major back surgery last Tuesday and so I wasn't able to contribute to the lifting.:o Rusty left with some more wood and some other goodies.:DMy son Chris helped me by wiring up the 220 for "Beauty" and the Vacuum pump as well as a new Buffer Rig I am putting together.:D ;)

All in all I'd say it has been a great day!:)

Christopher........Major back surgery?.........So who's going to test drive Beauty?.............Hope your recovery is going well!I figure I will after some of the Mustard owners come over and try their hand. I probably won't get her until about June so all should be well by then. Keep me in your prayers, the withdrawal is killing me already!:)

Chris hope your back is coming along. Don't do anything to make it worse. My prayers are with my friend.

Timing is everything...hopefully, you'll at least be able to hover over the new machine and occasionally polish the ways until you're back is ready to rock 'n roll! And remember, when you do start turning again, strive for a comfortable and fluid posture to keep the strain away. (One of the basics that David Ellsworth teaches on the first day of his three-day seminars)

I'd shoot some down to you, Chris; but the inspectors at the US/TX border would likely impound it. Foreign sales are not my forte :D

Hey Chris,
Do ya NEED a loaner till your new lathe comes in to make pens, or other such real small things that will not hurt your back?
If so, just ask and we can ccomidate you......

Thanks everybody, I'm being careful and conditioning for the big race! I plan to be ready. Andy, I'd like to say it is a government thing but the truth is, some of these agents down here still think this is the old west. To them, confiscation is their idea of fair compensation. :D Ye Haw!! And after all it is the coveted "Moxie" we're talking about.:)

Yer Moxie runners can't sneak past the DP (Doctor Pepper) Patrol. They don't go fer dem cheap foreign imports ruinin' the taste buds of Loyal Law Abidin' Texans.

Really though, you are welcome.Ernie, I really appreciate the invite but if I come it will have to be after dark and then only if you swear an oath of silence. Ya see, that Pruitt character can't get wind that I ever succumb to the lure of the Mustard Monster. He's been taking roll call and well just going off the deep end in general. I may have to take you up on it though if I intend to get my vacuum drums finished before "Beauty" arrives.

Christopher all I can say is do as the doctor tells you and you'll be in great shape in no time. My father is 80 and has had 3 back surguries and he also has some sort of electrical implant in his back but he gets aroung like he's my age, 38ish or better known as 43. it really turned his life around. I wish the absolute best for you and a fast recovery. we all look foreward to you getting behind that lathe and turning out some nice stuff. Hey I know, if your up to it start gluing some segments together. Have someone cut them up for you. If you like I can send you a computerized blueprint for a piece. No strenuous stuff though.
