Hi all!

I have the mind of a tadpole when it comes to creating patterns in wood. I was hoping one of you might help me with instructions on how you'd go about sequentially building up this cutting board pattern.

In advance, thanks for the help!

I use MS Visio or a like product to build different pieces (rectangles of different color) and then stretch, flip and order them to find a pattern. Sketchup should be able to do this (I don't have it) from some of the drawings I've seen here. There is a free version.

I can't help you, but that thing looks like one of those M.C. Escher prints!

Scroll down a bit and you'll find an excellent 2-part video tutorial from the Wood Whisperer.

I would not build that board. That is a long grain cutting board. You need to redesign it as an end grain board.

An even bigger issue is the number of cross grain joints. I don't see how this design would stay together with varying moisture content changes.
