Hello creeks, I finally got my 8 inch griz jointer today. I have wired the motor, the plug im putting on the cord is where i have the question. Plug has 3 wires, wire has 3 wires good so far. Green is ground plug clearly states G, i put that to ground wire which is green. Then theres two wires left a white an black.Looking at the wiring diagram there both hot.Okay good.
Heres where my question is, the plug says x and y thats the two openings left. Can I do either one for either wire since there both hot. The male terminlas look the same that plug into the wall that there going into.Looks like one hot goes to Stop/reset switch the other to power light.
Thanks
Im clueless when it comes to wiring but I have been piddling with it a bit lately.

Green to ground, Other two to remaining two terminals, doesn't matter which to which.

As long as it's 240v, it doesn't matter which pole you use. If this is a 120v situation, "white to silver" and "black to gold".
