I haven't found a supplier for slate, but I using laser sketch for marble and granite, they have a pretty good selection online.

Just spotted this post. I buy my slate from http://www.pennbigbedslate.com/

They aren't always really fast, but I hear they cut to desired sizes and no minimum order.
