Black spots on pear?

I'll see if I can post a pic later tonight. I've noticed I have black spots on most of the pear I harvested. The wood isn't soft and it doesn't smell of mold.

Is it mold or is it something else? The wood is anchorsealed.

Black mildew. The reason I don't anchorseal a turned piece. With luck you'll turn it all away. When you rough, blow all the water you can out of the piece with compressed air to help it dry through the mildew moisture zone faster. I've had good luck on green soft maple with it in the same conditions that used to give me spots.

Thanks George - these aren't turned, just blanks and log sections. So I guess its under the anchorseal and spraying it with a bleach solution is a temporary fix. I need to cut the ends off or get turning it, I guess...
