I finally got around to trying out the crushgrind mill mechanism. This will be a salt grinder and I am going with a chess theme, The Queen. It is laminated maple with a poly finish. Although I like the mechanism, they are a little more work in my opinion. I will make the King next, out of a piece of Texas ebony that I have.

Nice looking piece. I a newbie so I gotta ask, did you use the indexing pins on the lathe to make the crown? If not, how did you do that. Very interesting.

Thanks for the comments, they are appreciated.
Doug, I don't have indexing on my mini. I just divided the top of the crown into sections by eyeballing it and then drew the scallop edges. I then took a dremel and shaped the edge and sanded.
Getting an indexing wheel for the lathe is on my list of things to get.

Again, thanks for the comments.
