Hey all,
I was trying to find a 24" steel piano hinge but it seems that most are 36 or 72". I guess they expect you to just cut it. I can deal with that with a little dremel like cutoff wheel but Im wondering what holds the pin in place. If I a 72" into 3 peices, the center piece would have nothing to hold the pin. Am I missing something?

Do you have a home Depot or Lowes near you?? They carry 24". Don't worry about the pin it will not come out. It is not like you imagine.

I've cut 6" pieces off of a 36" piano hinge with no problems. The pin stays in from friction.

You can cut those things to any length and they will stay together. i'm not sure but I think one set of tabs are crimped tight on the pin. I have used many a piano hinge cut to lenghts as short as 4" and not had a problem.:D
Good luck
