View Full Version : Cherry Hollow Form

I'm not too sure what to call this thing. It's a single piece hollow form with Dogwood leaves shaped into it. My girlfriend sketched the flower design on it after I turned it, and I followed her design as closely as I could. This was my first attempt with a wood burning tool to detail the flowers. I'm certainly no master yet, but it was fun ( ) teetering on the edge of destroying my piece knowing that a single slip would destroy countless hours of work. Turning was the easy part - the carving and filing of the leaves and flowers was the hardest and I lost count of the hours I put into it.
Thanks for looking!

Great collaboration, Don.
What are the dimensions? Either way you did a nice job on that flat-top hollow form. Very nicely done!

Thanks for the kind words all! The encouragement here is always inspiring.
Neal: It's about 7 1/4" in diameter x 2 1/2" thick.
Jonathon: I just used BLO. It did turn out unually dark, however.

Don,
That's a real nice piece!!! I can only imagine how hours you have in that one.
FWIW-I find that BLO makes most everything look kind of dark for my tastes...
